Abstract:In order to study the applicability of offshore bonded hoses and obtain the applicable water depth and environmental conditions for Lazy-wave and Step-wave submarine hose system, the experiments on motion response of both were carried out in the ocean engineering tank. In the experiment, still water and regular wave environmental conditions were simulated to observe the motion response of the submarine hose system with two configurations of Lazy-wave and Steep-wave. The results show that the dynamic strain in each direction changes periodically and has high frequency components when the top motion of the two configurations is periodic for the cases of still water and regular wave; The amplitude of the second-order mode is increased in the regular wave case compared with that of still water case. In addition, Steep-wave configuration is more likely to excite higher mode than Lazy-wave configuration.
