Flexible pipeline installation can be grouped into horizontal installation method and vertical installation method. The installation operation of these two methods can be divided into four processes. Installation processes and related characters as well as the background theory of flexible pipeline installation analysis are illustrated. Based on the installation processes，the installation calculation analysis of a real engineering project is presented along with coming up with the key parameters needed for flexible pipeline installation. The study can provide guidance for the flexible application on offshore oil and gas development activities.
