Abstract:Taken the general layout of a deepwater semi-submersible platform in South China Sea as an example, different operation conditions of the flare boom release are defined, and the maximum release load is calculated under different operation conditions. The sensitive receptors of the platform to heat radiation and high temperature are determined based on operation requirements. The empirical formulae from the rules are assessed, the correction effect of the principle of point source and diffuse source is comprehensively considered by the Mixed model, and the length of flare boom is preliminarily gotten. The levels of thermal radiation, high temperature and noise generated by continuous discharge and emergency discharge are accurately calculated by numerical simulation using Flaresim software at the selected sensitive receptors. The influence of these parameters on the general layout and personnel operation of the semi-submersible platform is comprehensively evaluated, and corresponding mitigation measures are provided.
